Freckle treatment

Freckles are small brown spots on sun-exposed skin. Some appear with a genetic tendency and darken in summer. Treatment is planned with laser, light or peeling only after freckles are distinguished from sun spots and moles.

What is a freckle?

A freckle is melanin gathered close to the skin surface. It is common on the nose and cheeks in childhood or young adulthood, especially in fair skin. It fades in winter and returns in summer. Larger, evenly dark spots that appear with age are often sun spots, not freckles. Treatment needs that distinction.

How is it treated?

Selective light with a suitable device, a superficial peel, or lightening care is used. For many fine freckles, a session aimed at the whole face is more suitable than burning moles one by one. Aggressive light on darker skin can leave a mark. Lemon, bicarbonate or acid at home causes a burn and a new spot.

Is it permanent?

A tendency to freckle is not erased by treatment. Skin that sees the sun makes new freckles. Without a hat, shade and sunscreen all year, the clinic treatment does not last. A wish to tan and freckle treatment are not put in the same period.

When is a mole investigated?

A brown mark with uneven colour, an irregular edge, bleeding or rapid growth is not accepted as a freckle and burned. It is looked at with a dermatoscope first. If there is doubt, a piece is taken for examination.

The suitable method is decided after examination. For an appointment you can call 0555 714 62 95 or write on WhatsApp.
