Botox temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause lines. The aim is not to erase expression. When frowning, squinting or forehead movement leaves a line over the years, softening the muscle’s excess work can leave a more rested look.
This effect differs from person to person. The two sides of the same face, brow height and the way you smile change the plan. That is why the treatment is discussed after examination, not from a photograph.
Why expression is kept
The forehead, the area between the brows and the eye area are assessed most often. If a muscle is stopped completely, the face can look frozen. The measure is to soften the line while smile and surprise remain, chosen on purpose.
If you have had treatment before, saying what you liked and what you did not makes the plan clearer. If you are thinking about it for the first time, simplifying the expectation together is enough.
The effect fades
Botox is not a permanent treatment. Muscle movement returns over time. It is not right to give everyone the same calendar. A repeat is decided at review, from how the face is that day.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, medicines and previous treatments are asked about at examination. If it is not suitable, the treatment is postponed.
What is discussed at examination
Which expression tires you, which movement you repeat most during the day, and where the line that bothers you sits in the mirror. The treatment itself can take minutes. The real time is given to building the plan.
A short period of swelling or a pinpoint bruise can be seen afterwards. When you should come back for review is explained before the session.
This article is general information. A personal plan is decided after examination.
